Documents and Witnesses from 1968

On the 40th anniversary of the Prague Spring a small team of journalists and researchers launched a web-page dedicated to the parallel visualization, verbalization and documentation of the Prague spring and Sofia Summer.

You can browse 1968bg.com in Bulgarian:

  • copies of the original documents from the State Archives, the Communist Party Archives, Ministry of Defense and materials from the official press, audio and video media from these times;
  • photos from the Archives of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, Ministry of Defense, private archives witnessing about crucial events or the general context of 1968;
  • you can read and listen to authentic recollections of individuals involved in the 1968 grand events, to popular songs, etc.
  • you can watch official documentaries representing the party and state propagande.

The Project is financially supported by the CEE Trust, Open Society Institute Sofia, and Reason Institute. It is produced by Spotlight Ltd.
